In Project Two, students are required to introduce implementation of sustainable landscapes, technologies, community and green cities planning. Meanwhile, they needs to select a site and explore how to improve the sustainable landscape on the site.

 

Group work

-1A:

In a group of 6 or 7 students, students are required to conduct a case study on the green cities planning as listed below:

• Copenhagen

• Seoul

• Chicago

• Singapore

• Auckland

• Amsterdam 

• Barcelona

• Stockholm

 

They need to introduce the cultural landscape and implementation of sustainable landscapes, technologies and green cities planning principles by conducting research on green cities, community, sustainable cities and how it benefits the economy, social and environment. 

 

-1B:

Each group will be given one of the site from following:

RAPID LRT - KELANA JAYA, WANGSAMAJU, TAMAN JAYA, PASAR SENI

 

RAPID KOMUTER - SUBANG JAYA, KLANG, BANK NEGARA

 

KL MONORAIL - KL SENTRAL, BUKIT BINTANG

 

And do research about neighbourhood context within more or less 1km radius. Research should includes:

• Interaction of spaces

• Human activity and response to the space

• Cultural landscape

• Circulation

• Context

• Build form of the area

 

AND finally present all the information from work 1A and 1B into 1A0 or 2 A1 size board(s).

 

Individual work

Students are required to study ONE or TWO case studies and design an A5 booklet. The research should be about improvement of :

• Cultural landscapes

• implement sustainable landscapes

• Technologies

• Community involvement

• Green cities planning principles

REFLECTION

By going through the research about local and overseas case study, i learned that the authorities that responsible in green city planning is much important since it can affects the whole image of a city, even a country. The green city concept may changes the perspective and environment of community while giving benefits to economy, environment and social.
